There are countless reasons to get married on the Crystal Coast, but if there was one event to show how much beauty our home has to offer, it was Megan and Harrison Farley’s beach wedding. The couple combined the rustic, down-home feel of our community with the nautical touches that define the Crystal Coast to create a truly inspired ceremony and reception.
Megan and Harrison have been a happy couple since July of 2010, when they shared their first date at the movies. Just over three years later, Harrison asked Megan to be his forever on the beach in Nags Head. It was fated that the couple should be married by the beach, and so the adventure of planning a Crystal Coast wedding began!
A very brave bride, Megan chose to plan the wedding on her own, with only the help of her mother. But with plenty of inspiration and a variety of talented vendors to choose from, Megan and Harrison were married in a beautiful coastal ceremony in May. Check out these amazing photos from their special day, complete with all the local companies that helped to bring it together:
Megan and Harrison were married at the Crystal Coast Civic Center. Weather in Eastern North Carolina can be so unpredictable, and the couple was expecting a 70% chance of rain. Instead, they enjoyed a surprisingly beautiful day and an outdoor ceremony on the Civic Center’s patio. The reception was then held inside.
Megan chose a very coastal color palette for her bridal party: navy, coral, and champagne. The talented Staci Phillips captured the entire day on camera.
The reception was catered by Thee Catering Company of New Bern. The catering director created a menu with meat and vegetable options to please the large crowd of friends and family.
Margaret Grauke created two cakes for the event, one for the bridal party and another for their large group of guests. The three tier wedding cake featured layers of decadent flavors: vanilla with buttercream, marble with chocolate ganache filling, and sweet strawberry. The cakes complemented every detail of the wedding, with lace inspired by the bride’s gown, and sleek navy ribbon lining.
It’s all in the details! Every part of the ceremony and reception was carefully designed to reflect the beauty of the Crystal Coast.
The Farley’s finished off their special night with a beautiful sparkler send off on the patio of the Civic Center, where it all began.
“I loved every second of it and couldn’t hold back my big, goofy smile the whole day. I loved our wedding, but our marriage is even more beautiful!”
Thanks for sharing your beautiful Crystal Coast wedding with us, Farley’s! We wish you both all the happiness in the world!
